If you are trying to check your rankings on the search engines to see how your company is doing for certain keywords and phrases, then you have a few options.
Firstly you can do it manually by visiting Google, for example, trying in the keyword and counting where you are. This is a slow process as you may not appear within the first ten pages for some phrases and therefore have to look through each one in detail. Also this can be inaccurate especially if you are signed in to Google as it tends to often show personalised listings based on sites you have viewed before or that are geographically close to you.
The other way to do it is to use software. There are hundreds of companies offering this service for anywhere from £15 to £100+ a month depending on the amount of keywords / domains etc you want to track. If you are thinking about using third party software then be sure to read reviews and try and find a UK based one if possible to avoid issues with google.com / .co.uk search results.
