Making your site easier to navigate round

We have all visited websites that seem a little bit disjointed. Over time websites often get added to and the flow can become disrupted, making them hard to follow. Have a look at your website and try to follow through a few different processes that a visitor may do. If you use Google Analytics you can look at the flow chart to see which pages are clicked on in what order to give you an idea of the typical journey taken.

Makes sure that if you have pages where you can click for more details or that take you into an individual product or article that there is an easy way for the viewer to navigate back. You may simply add a back button or breadcrumb trail or you may decide to open up product details in a new box that can be closed to show the previous page behind.

If you have a way for customers to search or filter results then it is often handy to ensure when they go back, the search results are still shown so they do not have to repeat the process each time. Try to get a number of people to test out your website and make note of any difficulties they have which you can then focus on correcting.
